Hello -
We are having a Riding the Wave program this week-end and we have a few spots left. Below is a description of the program. To register, please email Rose at programs.cfspa@sasktel.net or text/call 306 961-8410.

RIDING THE WAVE: FOR CHILDREN (AGES 6 – 12) & THEIR FAMILIES TO DEAL WITH TRAUMA

This is a group program for children and their families in which the children have experienced any type of trauma. It is led by qualified and experienced facilitators.

Youth Component: Assists children to:

  • Understand and process violence and abuse by listening, believing and validating their experiences

  • Understand that abusive behavior and violence are unacceptable and involve choice

  • Learn skills to boost self-esteem, manage anger, problem solve effectively, and express feelings appropriately.

Parent Component: Parents attend the parental group, which runs at the same time as their children’s sessions.

This program assists parents to:

  • Understand the effects of violence on their children and the resulting behaviors

  • Help their children practice and use the skills at home that they have learned

  • Learn the parenting skills they need to help their family move past the pain

  • Learn to overcome the parents’ own trauma, as well as their children’s

There is no fee for this program. Thank you to Ministry of Justice – Victims Services for the funding of this program.
