Lenten Resources

Here are three suggestions for faith sharing groups as we approach the Lenten season:

  • “Lenten Longing for the Life of the World-Year B” by Sr. Catherine Nerney from RENEW International.   This program explores the Sundays readings of Lent.  Song suggestions, prayers, questions for reflection and action responses are all there to help you profit of our rich Lenten spirituality.

  • “Draw Closer to Christ”: Six booklets from the “Growing Faith” program are used to deepen our intimacy and communion with Christ.  A simple yet in-depth leader’s manual will lead you through the process.  Music and prayers can be found in the book “Desires of the Heart”. Fr. Bill Huebsch and Lisa Anslinger are co-authors of this program
  • Another resource just in is “Prayer Time”, Cycle B, faith-sharing reflections on the Sunday Gospels only.  This resource brings you through the faith-sharing process in a very simple manner with prayer and song suggestions, a reflection on the Gospel, group sharing suggestions, invitations to act, and a closing prayer.  This program also comes from RENEW International.
  • A book just brought in from Novalis is “Called to Pray: Lent and Easter with the New Roman Missal”.  It offers reflections on the Collects (opening prayers) of Lent, the Triduum, and Easter Sunday.  Below each Collect is the reference to the daily Gospel reading, since the prayer reflects in some way the Gospel of the day.  A method for Lectio Divina prayer that can be used with all the texts of the liturgy can be found on p. 6.  This little book would be excellent for anyone who wants to deepen their faith.
