One Hundred Years for Big River

bigriver_parish_small

For one hundred years, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart has stood with open arms to welcome all that enter their parish.  With this thought in mind, they welcomed everyone to their 100th Year Anniversary Celebrations on December 10 & 11, 2010.

Friday was a family evening with the musical Trudel family and Eric Paquette, followed by lunch and getting together with friends.  Saturday was a Novena of thanks to the Virgin Mary as she is the patron saint of the parish followed by a parish supper and Mass with Bishop Albert Thévenot, M. Afr.

Through the weekend, they wove together their theme of "One Hundred Years of Prayers, Hope, Love and Faith".  It was a time to reminisce as well as celebration.  They found photos of the previous parish priests that served in the time of their parents, grandparents and great grandparents.  It is through their hard work and endurance of many hardships that the parish is alive and thriving and as a result, aptly prepared to hold celebrations.

The next one hundred years will now be passed down to their children and grandchildren to carry on their prayers, hope, love and faith they have in their parish of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Parish in Big River, Saskatchewan.
